It is a commonplace to say that the world gets smaller
every day. The transport revolution of the last century has obliterated
the barriers of miles. The communications revolution has dispensed with
the barriers of time. What was a rather whimsical notion of the '60s -
'the global village' - is fast becoming reality. We live in a smaller world,
and there are a lot more of us. In this context, single-issue, single-interest
thinking is fast becoming obsolete. We are moving into a new world; we
must learn to think in a new way.
