One of the more down to earth, day to day brochures we wrote for Willis, it nevertheless concentrated on delivering a few key messages concisely and engagingly, rather than trying to give chapter and verse through an endless list of lists. Managing risk for Japanese companies worldwide Willis The risk practice [Left hand page] [Right hand page] At Willis, we have been helping Japanese companies manage risk worldwide for over 100 years. We are not alone in offering such services - so what makes us different? First, we are committed not just to protecting our clients, but to helping drive their success. Second, though we’re the world’s third largest insurance broker, we work as a unified team, using the latest networking technology to develop and deliver global best pratice solutions on a local basis. Third, and perhaps most importantly, we believe in ensuring that the service our clients receive - whatever their size or business - is exactly the service they need. Whoever you are, whatever you do and wherever you operate, we can help you turn risk to your advantage.
[Left hand page] [Right hand page] We have been closely involved with Japanese business since the late 1890’s, cutting the total cost of risk for both clients and carriers We were the first company to begin writing Japanese business in the USA, and are market leaders for Japanese business in the UK We are world leaders in many areas of business, including marine, aerospace and construction As globalization gathers pace, our risk management strategies let clients reduce their overall cost of risk over time, and concentrate their resources on adding value From ad hoc local assignments for individual offices to global portfolio management for entire multinationals, the same service and commitment goes into every project We adapt our service to both your requirements and your in-house capabilities, allowing you to capitalise fully on the skills you have, while accessing those you need
Big company, big risks; big risks, big opportunities The bigger your company and the broader its landscape, the bigger and more varied the challenges you face. You need global risk strategies, and you need local risk solutions. Globally, we design, implement and manage the entire risk management process. We undertake sophisticated risk analysis, covering every element in your global supply chain; design and implement a strategy to reduce risk and its associated costs; and manage, review and redesign that strategy, as dictated by changing times and changing needs. Locally, we solve problems – a ‘one-call’ source of expertise on everything from employment regulations to managing and motivating local employees to issues like public and private liability. Globally, and locally, we help you master risk throughout your supply chain and turn it to your advantage: carrying where appropriate, insuring where necessary, mitigating or transferring where possible. We help you dream big, then turn dream into reality.
There is no such thing as a small client Many companies in risk management seem interested only in ‘big business’. But we know that even small companies can face big risks, and pride ourselves on delivering the same level of highly expert, highly personalised service, regardless of scale. Different ‘small’ clients need very different services. Help with setting up an office in a new territory; advice on the implications of exchange rate fluctuations; guidance through the thicket of legislation that often surrounds issues like product or employee liability. Our extensive experience of the varied needs of ‘small’ companies enables us to offer the kind of comprehensive, multi-faceted support they need to get big. This commitment to total support reflects a century-old philosophy: deliver the best possible service simply because that’s how things should be done. That way you enjoy your days more, and sleep better at night.
In the end, it all comes down to people People: their philosophy, their expertise, and the way they work together. That’s it. The 10,000 people who make up the global organism that is Willis share a single fundamental goal - to help drive clients’ success. Yet achieving that single goal demands a level of expertise as wide as it is deep. Our capabilities extend over a wide range of specialisations, from local liability law to international financial transactions to ecommerce, in sectors from reinsurance to aerospace, from energy to shipping. But those specialisations communicate and work together seamlessly, allowing best ideas and best practices to be exploited rapidly and effectively, wherever they’re applicable. This is how we can quickly put together an appropriate team – straddling business and geographical borders - to address any challenge, on any scale, anywhere. Longer term, it drives the innovation that underlies our continuous improvement – our kaizen.
Japanese service; global coverage We are not ‘deal-makers’, we are facilitators - serving Japanese business long term. That means creating and sustaining mutually beneficial relationships that build value for all parties over time. At the heart of the process is a single, dedicated, tight-knit team based in Trinity Square, London. This acts as a central, universally accessible source of expertise and experience, as well as a clearing house for the processing and dissemination of global best practice. To make our resource even more accessible, we have developed ‘Advisor’ – a secure, password-accessible site, where clients can find total information on their company’s risk management arrangements, as well as a vast database of useful risk-related ideas and information. To take this service further still, our global network of real-life advisors is on call anytime, anywhere, to bring our global capability to your local door. Thus every client, anywhere, benefits from global best advice: derived from a worldwide organisation, leveraged on a worldwide basis.
